I have been in countless detoxs halfway houses and sober houses and have yet to come across a program that fits me. It was obvious that the house manager was under the influence of something. I was approached by another tenant who asked me if I was on suboxone and if I had any for sale I spoke to the tenant who told me that not only the house manager uses drugs but that the owner is not sober either. I took into account that one guys opinion might not be true but I can’t get the sight of that house manager nodding off while we spoke.

There are better places and just because the facility is clean, does not mean the woman who manages it is. We expect our residents to be actively involved in an individual recovery plan. We facilitate in- house AA and NA meetings, and all residents are subject to supervised drug and alcohol testing. Transitional housing is temporary housing for the working homeless population and is set up to transition their residents to permanent housing.

POLICE ARE CONSTANTLY AT HIS HOUSES ARRESTING PEOPLE. Not sure who owns these sober homes but they are anything but nice places to live. When you go to take a shower you need to keep all your valuables with you or they wont be yours any longer. My roommate was so banged up every night it was a relief when he finally passed out.

I wouldn’t trust my dog w/him, never mind someone who is struggling to find a good recovery program. Looking for a sober house in Dorchester, preferably on the Redline. I have been evicted from a house in Dorchester since the landlord needed to move his family in, and needed to rehab the entire house before move in. For the warmer months, we also have an outdoor meeting area, large decks, and a yard to enjoy. Guests feel safe, comfortable and supported at all times. I was a resident at the women’s sober home for a couple of months. The woman who runs it has stolen from residents including myself ( I have filed a police report) and also many residents believe is using drugs herself. They mean well but do not do enough due diligence when letting potential residents in. None of knows who will actually stay sober but with this place as long as you have some dough your good to go as the saying goes. They should reject half the applicants as anyone can tell they have no desire to be sober just need a place to crash. Stop looking for the almighty dollar once in awhile and look for some recovery before admitting some of these jerks. Each guest can expect a clean bed, sufficient clothing storage, HDTV w/ cable and free wifi in every room inside a clean, well maintained home cared for by the guests who stay there! Our homes are smoke free but there are plenty of designated outdoor smoking areas.

Kathy believes that God carried her through her darkest moments. She believes that He works through people and He has placed each person in her path over the past 6 and ½ years for a reason which is why she is still sober. Kathy maintains her sobriety by going to meetings as a member of a 12-step program, Alcoholics Anonymous, having a home group and a sponsor, daily prayer and helping others. I work in this field and these residents need treatment which I don’t see happening here. Behaviors need to change in order for one to get better and in order for this to happen good management needs to be present. Peter McCarthy relapesed in 2009 , and he has not been clean for 15 years .

Dave is approachable and encouraging, leading by example and encouraging guests to be active in the well-being of the home and in their day to day recovery. Kathy Curley has managed the women’s home since January of 2018. Since getting sober, Kathy has been able to get her GED and go on to UMass, Boston, to become a licensed alcohol and drug counselor. Kathy completed her college courses and passed her exam in April of this 2019 and is now a LADC, II, as well as being a certified recovery coach. Last year Kathy left her position as ATR coordinator for the Gavin Foundation to become a Senior Recovery Coach for the North Suffolk Mental Health Association.
